Celebrate the start of summer by grabbing a drink with the Greenpoint Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, June 21 at 6 p.m.

Bring a non-Chamber friend, meet new people and help spread the word about the benefits of joining your local chamber. Brooklyn Bowl will provide drinks, food and a wonderful view!

Last week was the 116th annual Brooklyn Day. Every year, the Borough President’s office hosts the event at a different park in Brooklyn.

Two years ago, it was at Brooklyn Bridge Park. Last year, Brooklyn Day was in Canarsie. This year, Borough President Eric Adams took the festivities to McCarren Park.

With public schools closed, dozens of kids and their families enjoyed a nice, warm day playing in the sun. They were given free food, courtesy of Subway, and even free lemonade.

For those who have asked, “Where is our park?” for the last decade, the answer may be coming soon.

The de Blasio administration made an offer to acquire the land, currently owned by CitiStorage, for a whopping $100 million. Federal, state and local elected officials gathered last weekend to urge the company to take the deal.

“You are recognized in the Greenpoint and Williamsburg communities as being philanthropic, as caring about open space, and as giving back to the community at large,” writes Deputy Mayor Alicia Glen to CitiStorage in an open letter. “As such we hope that you will partner with the city and accept this very generous offer so we can work, together, making this important park – which the community has been advocating for decades – a reality.”

Troop 996’s Joseph Nieves (Eagle Scout Service Project), the Department of Transportation, NYPD and Transportation Alternatives are hosting a pedestrian/bike safety event today from 1 to 5 p.m. at St. Francis School Yard.

The event will feature fun and educational activities, a free bike light giveaway and free raffle prizes. Bikers are also encourages to bring their bikes and register them, courtesy of the NYPD.

These kids are putting the green in Greenpoint.

Audubon New York is teaming up with the Greenpoint Community Environmental Fund to plant native plants for birds with third graders from P.S. 110.

It’s part of an education program that teaches children environmental awareness, science and appreciation of nature. For eight weeks, these students learned about the natural world, participated in bird walks and even took a field trip to Prospect Park.

Their culminating project is providing birds essential food and habitat by planting these greens.

Join them on Friday, June 10, starting at 9 a.m., at 124 Monitor Street.

Join members of Community Board 1’s Transportation Committee to learn more about the process of rebuilding the L train’s Canarsie Tunnel.

Representatives from the MTA will be on hand to provide more information about the work needed to be done, the construction timeline and how it will affect your commute.

The meeting will be tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Swinging 60’s Senior Center (211 Ainslie Street).

Police say that on Sunday, May 29, at approximately 6:20 p.m., a man walked into Driggs Finest Deli, located at 162 Driggs Avenue, and approached a 25-year-old employee.

The suspect then displayed a handgun to the employee and demanded money, authorities said. The employee handed over about $700. The suspect then fled by foot eastbound on Driggs Avenue.

Police describe the suspect as a 25-year-old black male carrying a white plastic bag. He was last seen a black hoodie and black jeans.

As the L train’s shutdown looms closer, one elected official wants a solution to what is soon to be a nightmare of a commute.

Assemblyman Joseph Lentol penned a letter to the MTA requesting increased G train service immediately.

“The impending L line shutdown will certainly cause headaches for many riders, but providing them with increased service on the G line will do wonders to proactively alter their ridership patterns,” Lentol wrote.

A 2013 line review of the train determined that the G functions as a “feeder and distributor line,” which means many riders take it just to transfer to another train. As a result, riders have experienced long wait times.

“If you ride the G during rush hour, I am sure you have thought to yourself, ‘sardines have it better than G line riders,” he said.
