Brooklyn hospitals’ first babies of 2018

New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital’s first baby this year is Aarya Datar.

A new year means newborns at each hospital in our borough.

You may have heard that Brooklyn’s first baby of 2018 was Joshua Miguel Brito, born to Erica Hernandez and Joshua Brito at Woodhull Hospital.

He was born 6 pounds, 14 ounces.

At New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, their first baby of the new year was Aarya Datar, born at 6:49 a.m.

Aarya weighs 7 pounds, 10 ounces. She was born to Praveen Datar and Vandkode Kulkarni, who live in Crown Heights. Her 17-month-old sister Aadhya was there to say hello to her baby sister.

“We are so thrilled to welcome Aarya into the world,” Kulkarni said. “We feel very special to have one of the first babies of the New Year.”

Over at NYU Langone Hospital, Wilmer De Los Santos Asencio was born at 4:11 a.m. Here he is pictured with his mother, Tirsia Maria Asencio De Los Santos.

Baby Wilmer weighed 5 pounds, 10 ounces. He will return home to Sunset Park with his mom, father Wilson and 17-year-old brother Jonas.
